Tärnsjö Garveri just north of Stockholm has provided Scandinavia with some of the best veg tanned leather in the world for the past 140 years. The tannery is among 5% of tanning houses worldwide that still employs the tradition of vegetable tanning in favor of the more time and cost-efficient chrome excel method. Vegetable tanning is environmentally friendly and sustainable. Tärnsjö's veg tanned leather is a rich, full leather that ages with grace.
Tärnsjö very seldomly tans horse hide. This is because the hides are rare in comparison with the more abundant cow hide. I'm therefore very happy for being one of few to have obtained this batch of horse hide and to be able to present a few bags on my web shop. Needles to say the quality of the leather is the same impeccable leather as their regular cow hide. This batch of leather is analine dyed in a antique reddish brown color and has all the makings of a leather that will age beautifully over time.
The Lone Wolf Leather U.S. Mail bag is made of Tärnsjö's antique brown 1,8 mm veg tanned horse hide. The bag is all hand cut and hand stitched. For extra strength points of stress have been reinforced with copper rivets. The heads of the rivets have been rounded to make sure they do not damage clothing. All buckles are lacquer free solid brass from a U.S. supplier and will therefore add to the patina of the leather with use. Needless to say, the bag has all components needed to age beautifully.
The bag has one large main compartment, and one full size side pocket. An extra detachable inner zipped sleeve/pocket has been added for extra storage. The sleeve measures 32 x 19 cm and will fit your cell phone, small iPad, wallet or other valuables. The bag is also fitted with a D-ring on the inside for attaching keys, etc. A D-ring on the outside of the bag has a leather braid with milk heart and bone beads attached to give the bag a more relaxed look. Each bag has a serial numbered Buffalo Nickel.
The solid brass buckles and lever snaps are also available in matte nickel. The hand stitching can be done in a dark brown color matching the leather or a white contrasting thread.
